There are no good quality M. Ward videos on Youtube!

Of course this one is not either, but as I was listening to my music on shuffle, I really got into this song for some reason.  The audio quality is pretty horrible, but I kind of like how its dark and you can barely see him.  Take a gander on some of these Wards, and do not forget that he just came out with a new cd.  I don’t even have those tunes yet…

I also really like his website, so here is a link to it.  Its a pretty cool design!

That is my major coming out.

Handsome Furs

A couple weeks ago I saw this band over in Lawrenceville at a local bar / venue.  Before seeing them live, I never listened to a cd, so it was my first taste.  I just went because my brother liked them.  At any rate, I won’t blabber about them too much more because there is a song and an interview with the band.  Have a listen!

Matt Bennett

Supposedly I look and have similar skateboarding style to Matt Bennett, who is the guy tearing it up in this video.  There have been a couple times in different states even when this has occurred.  Its too bad I can’t skate like him.  But here is a little treat of a good part in Toy Machine’s “Suffer the Joy” video that was out a while ago.  Gosh I wish we had spots like this in Pittsburgh!

Southland Tales

This is by far one of my favorite movies, if not so my favorite.  It is directed by Richard Kelly, you know the guy who directed Donnie Darko.

A lot of people don’t like this movie.  I’m sure its because its not a typical Hollywood movie with the typical Hollywood movie feel.  You have to look farther into it than just watching the TV aimlessly.  Plus the story flows at a different pace.

This movie  deals with similar themes as Donnie Darko, but has so much more wrapped through it such as politics, religion, society, and the energy crises.  For me to explain it would be too hard, but you should watch this one by yourself and probably watch it  more than once because if you miss something you may be entirely too confused.  Above is the trailer, and as you can see you might just be surprised by who acts in this.

This is another great scene, with that Timberlake tripping out.  He is sweet in this movie as well and he narrates it.

Some of this writing was rather poor, but I was typing half of it with one hand while I was on the phone.  Yes I will make an excuse.

Apartment Story

Another Easter passes by. Its funny how holidays become less important as you start to get older.  Yet at the age of 23 my Mom still gave me an Easter Basket with some candy and a nice crisp $20 bill in a plastic egg.  I think I’ll always like those childhood reminders no matter how old I’ll get.

Since I’ve just started this thing, I’m going to post some of my immediate favorite things.   Favorite songs and bands continuously change, but I have a feeling The National is going to be a favorite for a lifetime.  I don’t see it leaving my top five anytime soon.  Luckily enough, they made a video for one of my favorite songs “Apartment Story”.  So see what you think.

Sometimes I wonder how or why I got into a particular band and wonder, say if I listened to the cds in a different order if I would like it as much or if I wouldn’t have given it a long enough chance.  So just for a test, if you do happen to like this sound, I listened to Alligator first, followed by Boxer, which is the cd this song is from.  Then I stared to hear their earlier stuff.  These guys are a hidden gem I tell you!

House is on fire

There are only a few TV shows that I have been interested in lately. The Office and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia were it for me, but this year I have gotten myself into some Heroes and House. Both shows I never really thought I would like. Heroes looked so lame with that whole “save the cheerleader, save the world” and I thought that House MD was just another stupid doctor show. But of course I was wrong and I have really been liking both of them.

One thing I do love though is the theme song of House!

Massive Attack – Teardrop

Its a fucking good song! The song is a little shortened for House, but here is a link to the video, which is pretty darn interesting itself, especially if you like fetuses.

I was unable to embed the Massive Attack version, but you can just go on YouTube and find it.

Here is an interesting version by Jose Gonzalez. He makes some good covers!

Day #1

So this doggy is back to speaking his mind on these blogs.  I completely lost track of that whole live journal thing.. and for good measure.  Looking back at some of those posts made me realize how pointless some of those were.  Of course there will be some of those and some of THESE, but I don’t want to try and reiterate what happened in my day to day life.  I actually want to post stuff that may be interesting to people.  Plus this will give me a little motivation to finally go out and buy myself some web space, thus getting some Mangy Radio going with my fellow dog.  Creation tackled.  Day one? I’d say success.
